New track: Cosmic Gate spreads some 'Universal Love' [Wake Your Mind Records]

More news on the Cosmic Gate front these days: Nic and Bossi just released a new track called Universal Love, under their own label Wake Your Mind Records.

Also, WAKE YOUR MIND DEEP RECORDS opens its doors with first release from Marcus Schössow and Matthew Felner's Gardenstate project.

Their latest update before the release of their fourth "Wake Your Mind Sessions" compilation, is the release of their 'Universal love'. A track that takes them off the Cosmic Gate''s grid, as never before: a dazzling, convention-shaking tale of two tones.

Something different and fresh, a sonic safari, upping the thump (& funk!), letting the filters rip and bringing it with some tech n distort tumult. The guys played with everything and more for this track: from piling on the speaker pressure with analogue bass, FX grind, 3030 whip and cranked reverb, to the break that brings an nice proportioned script-flip and drops FX-effected chorus from Natural Born Grooves classic 'Universal Love'. "Peopleeeeee geeet readyyy for this Universal Love" and enjoy this timely vocal that only spreads the message of love and happiness far & wide!

In other breaking Cosmic Gate news this month, the coming of ‘Wake Your Minds Sessions 4’ has served as the perfect springboard for Nic & Bossi to launch the new division of their record label. With Wake Your Mind Records romping past its 50th release, its new Deep imprint commenced release operations earlier in the month. ‘Delta’ from Marcus Schössow and Matthew Felner’s gardenstate project had the honours of opening Deep’s discography, which (naturally enough!) can also be found within the grooves of the May 1-released ‘Wake Your Mind Sessions 4’ album!

Cosmic Gate’s ‘Universal Love’ is out this week and is available to stream/purchase here. (https://cosmicgate.complete.me/universallove), while Wake Your Mind Sessions 4 can be pre-ordered here.

COSMIC GATE CONFIRM 4TH ‘WAKE YOUR MIND SESSIONS’ EDITION

New compilation incoming! Lock May 1st in your calendars!

If last years they were pretty busy with their  20 years anniversary artist album Forward ever, Backwards Never, the time for #WYMS is here back! Skipping it for one year, only because of other priorities, the 4th edition is coming back stronger than ever. Outside of club engagements, remixing Armin's "Something Real" and releasing their "You Mind" single, Nic and Bossi spent the last few months shaping an emotional, exceptional and best out of 4 Wake Your Mind Sessions.

The first glimpse of that can be had this very day as the pre-order curtain (cosmicgate.complete.me/wyms004) has gone up on ‘Wake Your Mind’s next sensational ‘Session’! While there are sonic riches aplenty on board, first thing’s first, that most critical of release dates for your diary: May 1 is the day, folks - so mark it!

As some see compilations as only 'drag and drop', there is also another side of the story, where these are higher-achieving, more evolved and labour of love music compilations albums. Cosmic Gate's Wake Your Mind Sessions is more like the latter. The guys combined the most recent and best works from Armin, Above & Beyond, Grum, Spencer Brown, Genix and others, but also uped the game with music plucked desk-hot from the studios of CG's most 'dependables'. This compilation is also the premiere point for their own purpose-built creations and new Wake Your Minds Records signings.

For early pre-order adopters, three instant-grats from the album (gardenstate’s ‘Delta’, ‘Paradigm’ from Kolonie and Cosmic Gate’s own ‘Your Mind’) are already available. Further, giving you an ear/lip-smacking foretaste of all that’s in store, track clips are available here and you’ll find the comp’s full rundown spec below. Light Years. A journey through the Cosmic Gate.

There is no secret. I like Cosmic Gate. A lot. I loved them. Their music shaped my ears through the years, made me love trance music more and contributed a lot to my dance parties in the office, at home, in the bus, pretty much everywhere.

Recently, they launched a new single, called Light Years. The track is taken from their Forward Forever Backward Never LP, coming on August 23.

Track first.

It is a journey. It is the Cosmic Gate journey they take us to, each time. It makes you instantly recognize it is a Cosmic Gate track. You already know the sounds that give you goosebumps, the one that make you jump and the ones that make you lose your mind on the dancefloor. It is classic. New, but classic.

And of course, I like it. There is no saying Cosmic Gate, without me liking it. This track reminds me of something old, but something new. I really like the euphoric sounds and the drive this track has. Sugar, spice and everything nice. This were the first words that came through my mind when I first hit the play button.

Cool and melodic in all the right places, euphorically summit scaling everywhere else - you can experience that ‘Light Years’ feeling for yourself right here, right now (stream or download here: https://cosmicgate.complete.me/lightyears)

Now, the album.

[Previously] Fair to say Cosmic Gate have had a pretty charmed start to their milestone twentieth year. The first six months alone have seen the duo serve the aforementioned brace of Beatport #1s with the MINT-playlisted ‘Come With Me’ and the “profound” (say DJ Mag) “9/10” ranked ‘Need To Feel Loved’. January brought word of their first Grammy nomination and further saw the group kick off their Forward Ever, Backward Never tour – one that to date has touched 30 cities globally.

I listened to the album, and it has some really interesting tracks in it. Some classics reworks (like The Wave and Not Enough Time), some remixes from Cosmic Gate for Tracks like Need to Feel Loved or Lizard (I really likee their take on Mauro Picotto's classic <3), remixs from other artists (like Ilan Bluestone or Andrew Bayer), but also new stuff. You'll definitely be in for a treat.

Side not. Maybe because I like the track too much, the album name it remindes me of Forward Forever from Orkidea (the Indecent Noise Remix), but I may be only me. Beside all this, the album is great and it definitely deserves your attention.

You can head to your portal of choice (https://bit.ly/32T9K4T) to see what’s what, but hold up another minute and we’ll give you a couple of useful insights!

On its announcement Cosmic Gate commented that it was their intention to “take us closer to the 360 of who we are, where we’ve been and where we’re going. In order to do this, the group junked the ‘greatest hits album’ blueprint and approached their 20 years commemorator from four separate production angles.

Tracklist: Cosmic Gate - 20 Years [Forward Ever Backward Never]

COSMIC GATE & FORÊT - Need to Feel Loved [Wake Your Mind Records]

NEXT VANGUARD RELEASE FROM UPCOMING ‘FORWARD EVER, BACKWARD NEVER’ ALBUM DROPS // PHASE-2 DATES FOR 20 YEARS TOUR ANNOUNCED

The closing days of 2018 saw Cosmic Gate break news of sweeping plans to commemorate 20 years of artistic partnership. Now, following Ilan Bluestone’s reworking of the Emma Hewitt-sung classic ‘Be Your Sound’, Cosmic Gate deliver their next LP trailblazer.

Occupying a singular place in the genre’s history, ‘Need To Feel Loved’ is the trance anthem that was never meant to be. Caught between the emphatic prog house intentions of its producers and a trance remix that supercharged it to classic status, it was released on the cusp of an evolutionary moment in Cosmic Gate’s history.

Bossi from the group elaborates: “the release of the original ran in almost complete parallel with a time our sound was undergoing its first significant change. During pre-production on ‘Earth Mover’, the depth and emotional complexity of ‘Need To Feel Loved’ was highly influential on Nic & I.

For their interpretation Cosmic Gate spent many an hour forensically re-exploring what made ‘Need To Feel Loved’ so unique.

What was most important to us in reinterpreting it, says Nic Chagall, was that we didn’t retrace any musical ground already covered. What we’ve come up with gives us the perfect new version to play on the 20 years tour!

Their mix brings drum, percussion & depth charge bass, which prefaces its deliberately elegiac pianoforte and Thomas Newman’s almost impossibly moving Road To Perdition strings. Break-side it equalises with trance synth shimmer, LFO-generated sub riffs and the heartfelt chime of its mainline.

To do full and complete justice to their version, an extraordinary vocal from a singer of singular and very specific tone was required. The search ended in Holland at the door of Forêt. The very epitome of ‘bittersweet’, her quiet implore, mixed with the unending reach of her delivery swings an emotional wrecking ball through the track’s heart.

The next piece of Cosmic Gate’s 20 years celebrations (more info on which here https://cosmic-gate.de/article/20-years-new-album-tour/) is in place and ready to stream/purchase here https://wym.choons.at/needtofeelloved. Having already touched Australia, phase-2 dates for the 20 Years tour, which continues through to the early summer, have just been announced. They’ll see Cosmic Gate make a return to Ultra in Miami, alongside much requested dates in New York, London, Moscow, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta. Full details and tickets available here (https://cosmic-gate.de/tour-dates/).

Cosmic Gate releases Materia, the documentary and it is le-gen-da-ry!

Across two Chapters, 2017 saw Cosmic Gate release ‘Materia’ – the most significant and expansive album compendia in their long-playing history. Throughout key points of ‘Materia’s timeline, the ‘How’, ‘What’, ‘When’ and ‘Where’ of its coming-together was captured on film.

In ways intimate and surprising, inspiring, challenging and heartening, ‘Materia - The Documentary’ chronicles how the albums of ‘Materia’ were conceived, recorded and released - all related by the men who made them.

Shot on location at key events over the course of a musical year, the doc team shadowed the duo to Amsterdam for ADE, to Music Week in Miami, Belgium for Tomorrowland and on... It also drops in to more intimate ‘Materia’ tour shows, reaching celebrated venues including Ministry of Sound, London and LA’s Exchange.

cosmic-gate

Over its duration, Cosmic Gate provide the inside loop on their processes and methodology, whilst shedding new light on ‘Materia’s concept. Featuring behind-the-scenes material, it includes lesser-seen backstage footage, with Nic & Bossi sharing candid insights on how they manage the pressures of group and tour life. Contrastingly, the film also captures all the front-of-house thrill and thrall of the pair live, and in full flow. All naturally backed by the embryonic anthems of ‘Materia’.

On cam, Nic & Bossi also discuss moments from their earlier years and relate how events and inspirations - often unexpectedly - played their part in the shaping the albums’ music. The doc also delves into Cosmic Gate’s unique dynamic, exploring the synergy & second-nature-ism behind one of the most enduring partnerships in electronic music.

Intercut between are clips from many of Materia’s best known tracks, ‘AM2PM’, ‘Fall Into You’, ‘AR’, ‘Noom’ and ‘Dynamic’ among them. Through the documentary makers lens, you can get as up close and personal with its albums as it’s possible to get. Cosmic Gate’s ‘Materia’ movie is online now. A mystical remix to dream to: Cosmic Gate & Super8 & Tab - Noom (Estiva Remix) [Wake Your Mind]

Me telling you for the Nth time I am a huge fan of Cosmic Gate and their music is old news. Me telling you how awesome Super8 and Tab are is again old news. But me telling you I am also into Estiva's work may be something newer. Wake Your Mind Recordings just release his remix on Cosmic Gate & Super8 & Tab - Noom and it is mint!

Nic, Bossi, Janne and Miika mastered the original, but Estiva wrapped it into a mystical journey! Less released, more unleashed, when ‘Noom’ came spinning out of ‘Materia Chapter. Two’s clear white yonder last year, scene-wide fever followed. Every bit equal to the sum of its artists, its cruising pads, thermal chords, synth elevation and mother of all mainlines bossed primetime like no other.

That magical whistle, the progressive touch, the build up are just perfect. Moodying up ‘Noom’s tone, the Dutchman’s also Prydz-out its tempo, lent extra roll to the drums, applied more steel to its synths, flint to its FX and furthered its epic soar.

It is a track to lose yourself too. It is giving me a very free spirit vibe and I just close my eyes and my mind goes beyond this world's perspective. I am going to a land of mysteries. To a land of joy and happiness. To a land of possibilities. It is a track to wake up to. A track to dream to.

One to steer you into the spring, Estiva’s remix of Cosmic Gate & Super8 & Tab’s ‘Noom’ hits stores & floors this week. Lay hands and ears on it here.

Finally out: Cosmic Gate - ‘Wake Your Mind’ Sessions 003!

After last year’s ‘Materia’-induced hiatus, ‘Wake Your Mind Sessions’ – Cosmic Gate’s celebrated mixcomp series - has been returned to its traditional March release slot. ‘WYMS:003’ is available this very moment, through all shop & streaming channels and is ready to put some spring into your Spring!!

Giving you an insight into ‘003’s musical make-up, Nic & Bossi have put together a WYMS minimix, which is live now via their Soundcloud page You can also purchase/listen-to the complete ‘WYMS003’ here!

Specifically though, what’s what with ‘003’ then? Well - dare we say – it’s bolder in vision and even wider in its style & power-band. Bigger too, by virtue of an even higher ratio of exclusives, premieres and first-listen tracks - all threaded into the mix. Leaving no studio door un-knocked or creative avenue unexplored, Nic & Bossi have – as ever - been tireless in sourcing its sonic ordnance. That’s resulted in music, mixes and mash-ups as far as eye can see & ear can hear!

Included among them, ripe from the studio desks of Estiva, Eskai and Leo Reyes, are new reworks of some of ‘Materia’s most majestic moments. You’ll also find freshly inked Wake Your Mind Records signings courtesy of Greenhaven DJs, Noise Zoo, Patrick White and Marcus Santoro. Mash-ups abound too, with Cosmic Gate getting their hands on artists as diverse as Third Party and Marco V. And naturally they all fall between the hottest, latest soundware from a super-starry tracklist cast - Above & Beyond, Gabriel & Dresden, Kyau & Albert & Genix, Wellenrausch & Gai Barone and Tim Mason to mention but a few.

On completing Wake You Mind Sessions 003, Cosmic Gate’s Bossi commented: "as ever, a great deal of thought went into the structuring of these mixes. The first person we played it to really put their finger on it: ‘CD1, I turn on at work and CD2 I listen to in the car before I go out’ Music to our ears - that was exactly what we were going for!

As laser meets disc, the atmosphere-soaked pads of Eskai’s intro-tweaked ‘Fall Into You’ mix get us underway. Early tone dialed-in, mix.01 plots a cool path through the progressive sound-fields. Staking their righteous claims there are Above & Beyond & Richard Bedford, with the Spencer Brown reworking of ‘Northern Soul’ and Jerome Isma-Ae & Alastor’s instrumental take on Wellenrausch/Gai Barone collab ‘Heroes of Light’.

Signaling a subtle-yet-perceptible upswing in feel, Cosmic Gate & Alastor’s ‘Fight The Feeling’ has ‘WYMS003’ cross from prog into trance. Courtesy of Greenhaven DJs ‘The Unexamined’ and Tim Mason’s jacked-up ‘Switcher’, techier and more distortion-heavy vibes seize its centre-ground. Bringing Mix 1 to its mercurial apex are Maor Levi’s deliciously warped ‘Juno’ and Cosmic Gate just-released rephrase of Gabriel & Dresden’s ‘Only Road’.

Through Estiva’s ethereal rework of CG x Super8 & Tab outing ‘Noom’ and ‘Find The Sun’ by Raz Nitzan & Moya Brennan, Mix 2 opens in cooler waters. This being Cosmic Gate though, you know it’s but a momentary calm before the storm. Ahead of the album’s mixing, the Wake Your Mind Records contract pen’s seen action aplenty and Nic & Bossi use the second disc’s midpoint to break out their latest signings.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elaborating, Bossi says: "we were blessed with a mass of exclusive track submissions from young & upcoming producers. In the end there proved to be too much great work to choose from! (We wanna send an especially big shout out to all the producers from around the world who sent us tracks!!). In the end we signed material from Australia’s Markus Santoro, Patrick White from Poland, Holland’s Noise Zoo and Greenhaven DJs from the USA. All exclusive on this album and later to be released on our label WYM Records. Keep a close ear out for them. Nic & I reckon you’re going to be hearing a lot more from these guys in the future!!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As it hits the home straight, CG reopen ‘Materia’s track-trove, lining up Ferry Corsten collab ‘Dynamic’, current single ‘If Not Now’ and – exclusively - Leo Reyes’ blistering remix of CG & Markus Schulz’s ‘AR’. To gift the mix a fitting finale, Nic & Bossi have included two new, thoroughly locomotive mash-ups for it. ‘Like This Body Of Conflict’ twists their (what else but!) classic ‘Body Of Conflict’ around last year’s pulse racing hit from Third Party. ‘WYMS003’s valedictory track (and a celebration of all things ‘V’) ‘Muraco's Godd’ sees Marco V’s most recent and most revered tracks united as one, for the techiest, most fearsome of tie-offs. Flowing and gazelle-like in places, charging rhino-like in others, ‘Wake Your Mind Sessions 003’ is another deftly mixed Cosmic Gate masterpiece. 160 minutes of cortex-wobblingly music to enjoy in the privacy of your own party, you can pop it on digital order here or for the CD edition here

Cosmic Gate: Wake your mind Sessions 003 and another track made in heaven with Jes

If Not Now, when? Later. Cuz Oana got so lost into the track and what the guys announced to have prepared for march, that she forgot to write her soul about it. Cosmic Gate & Jes - If Not Now, was released on February 9th and received such an amazing feedback from the trance community. The guys did great for so long, you could not expect less than greatness for their new track. Also, they announced a new compilation due March 16th that will most likely blow our minds!

A match made by heavens. Yes. Because Jes's voice fits perfectly to everything the guys produce. Her voice is so clean, so angelic, so astonishing. And because Nic and Bossi are some of the few that made me fall in love with this music because of their unique sound. This match is perfect with each track they release.

Across its two Chapters of Materia, her voice instilled heart and soul to no fewer than three of its number. None though highlighted her expressive songwriting and vocal range to quite the same degree as new single ‘If Not Now’. Backed by the intensity of Nic & Bossi’s sophisticated ever-evolving, production, ‘If Not Now’s metaphorically implicit verses, imploring chorus and straight-from-the-heart delivery prove thoroughly irresistible in this brand new 2018 Club Mix.

With matters ‘Materia’ to attend to, Cosmic Gate’s ‘Wake Your Mind Sessions’ series went on hiatus last year. Absence, as they say, only makes the heart grow fonder and today the news those left bereft in ‘17 wanted, nay needed to hear… ‘WYMS’s back, baby!! Reinstated to its traditional release March slot, it’s ready to springboard you headfirst into Spring!

So what’s what with ‘003’ then? Well - dare we say – it’s bolder in vision and even wider in its style & power-band. 10 reasons - Why I'm going to 10 Years of TrancENDancE with Aly & Fila, Cosmic Gate with Emma Hewitt, Ruben De Ronde, Snatt & Vix #ontheroad

You had to see this one coming! I started last month to ask some people why are they choosing a specific trance event and not another one, and the answers completely amazed me. There were some reasons I never thought off, and some that I agreed with instantly. Even if Trancers.ro was a bit too busy lately and we couldn't be too active on the event's page, we followed closely what the romanian trance family is sharing, saying, enjoying or requesting there. We even read some of those ”why I am not coming to this event” posts. Buuuut, since we are the positive people and optimism is our middle name, we had to find out the Top 10 reasons why we're coming to this TrancENDance's 10 years anniversary with Aly & Fila, Ruben de Ronde, Cosmic Gate, Emma Hewitt and Snatt & Vix next friday, on October 21st at Arenele Romane! So, find your most comfortable position, grab your popcorn and let's do this!

1. New trance gathering. New TrancENDance party. I always appreciated what others do for trance music, and TrancENDance makes no exception. The guys behind it, Snatt & Vix are really nice to keep doing this even after 10 years, years that I am pretty sure they weren't too easy. Even if it may seem simple to organize an event, it isn't. A lot of things to consider. A lot of people to please. But the guys made it. Managed to bring a lot of awesome names and made the Romanian Trance Family happy. Just take a quick look through their ”history”: Mark Sherry, Daniel Kandi, Markus Schulz, Ashley Wallbridge, Jochen Miller, Ronski Speed, First State, Myon & Shane54, ATB, Darude, Ferry Corsten, Leon Bolier, Sebastian Brandt, Solarstone, Sied van Riel, Kyau & Albert, Heatbeat, Arctic Moon, Johan Gielen, Christina Novelli, Alexander Popov, Susana, Mark Sixma, Simon O' Shine, Aly & Fila, Emma Hewitt. If this doesn't put them on your ”good” list, I don't know what will.

2. Aly & Fila (well, just Fila). Both guys are amazing, and as I said in a previous article, they have one of the best trance radio shows ever. FSOE was, it is and I am pretty sure it will always stay true and faithfull to trance music. I just saw Fila 3 weeks ago at FSOE 450 Manchester and cannot wait to see him again. His sets are always different, always surprising and pretty much perfect.

3. Cosmic Gate. I do have some music crushes and Cosmic Gate are one of them. These guys are some of those who made me feel in love with this awesome trance music and I was desperatly looking to see them again. They are not coming to this side of Europe too often, so when I saw them in the line up that made my day. They came to Romania 3 years ago in Cluj at the Delahoya Music Festival, and I went there just for their set. I am that in love with their music. They had an amazing set, and the crowd, even if it was too small for them, makes me smile every time I remember that night. Looking forward to repeat it, in a week.

4. Emma Hewitt. This woman is just perfect. It's her second time here in Romania, and trust me it worth seeing her again. And again. And again. She's above a lot of artists when it comes to live singing and an awesome person to meet. I can't wait to hear ”Be your sound”, ”Coming home”, Restless hearts”, ”Rewind” again and to relive the beautiful moments from TrancENDance with Emma Hewitt, Sundancer and Snatt & Vix!

5. Ruben de Ronde. I never saw him live, but I listened to a lot of his sets online. Also, I heard he is the real deal when it comes to warm up sets, building up the night for the fans and artists playing after him. Looking forward to meet him and enjoy the magic.

6. Always looking for a trip to trance heaven. If I could, I would live in a trance heaven every day. So whenever there is a trance party near me, I have to be there. Also, the nice people of Iasi made the trips a loooot better by providing 4 flights/ day to Bucharest and better prices than other ways of transportation. So now, there is just one hour separating us from the Romanian Trance Heaven - Bucharest. ^_^

7. The trance family. Here I am just gonna repeat myself and say what I am always saying about this amazing community. Trance is connecting awesome people, and this event makes no exception. I met a lot of beautiful people this year, I will reconnect with them in Bucharest, but I will also make new friends. Here’s the thing with the trance community. Even if it may sound cliche – this trance family term, ohh best family in the world.. and so on, it is actually  TRUE. It is a fact. I am not saying other ”music families” are not awesome, because I don’t know them and most likely they’re awesome too, I am just talking about my opinion about the community I am a part of.  Most of the people I met are so friendly, so nice, so perfect, I couldn’t ask for more.

8. Trancers.ro's secret projects. I am always trying to do new stuff for the blog, for the trance community every time I come to Bucharest and this event makes no exception. So stay close. ;)

9. Forgetting about ourselves for one night. Partying always has been a major stress relief, and if you add trance to the mix is even better.

10. Love for trance. Love for music. Love for sounds. I describe myself through 3 simple things: design, trance music and blogging. Design is part of my life as a job, blogging as a passion and trance music as just simple air to breathe every day. I fell in love with this music back when I was in high school, have a lot of perfect memories with it and I cannot imagine life without it. It is the music that has always been there for me. The music that made me laugh. The music that made me cry. The music that made me love.

If you have more please feel free to share them by commenting below or just message them to me Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. I hope I will see a lot of you awesome people in Bucharest, and till then don’t forget to support your favorite artists and keep listening to this awesome music.
