ADE '18 memories: Solarstone presents Pure Trance - a pure night to remember
It isn't easy to talk about one of the greatest nights of ADE. It isn't easy to keep yourself cool for a couple of days (weeks) and try not to write 100 articles about it. It is not. But it is easy to remember what happened and get the goosebumps again and again because of the memories of a Pure Night to remember. On October 20th, at Postillion Convention Centre Amsterdam Solarstone celebrated his birthday with a Pure Trance Night.
Being my first ADE year, I was nervous with each event I attended. Do not ask me why, because even I don't know. I am nervous when it is about Trancers.ro and its first experiences. I heard a lot about last year's events, so I was curious about 2018's ones.
Understood that last year, there were some issues regarding the location and facilities, but this year people were happier. Heard no complaints around me and I had a nice experience. The space was pretty fancy, but the lasers, the music, and the people made it a real trance party.
When I got to the party, Orkidea was playing. Orkidea was warming up the crowd even more, after Hal Stucker. And he was doing one hell of a job! I've always enjoyed his music and listened to some of his sets. But experiencing it live is something out of this world. He was the right man for the job. I am not soooo much into the progressive sets, but from time to time some manage to amaze me. And hit me in the feels. I experienced joy, smiles and lots of fun with my friends. I do not remember too many tracks (you know I can't remember too many tracks), cuz I focus on the feelings I experience on the dancefloor, but I remember Orkidea's remix of Coldplay - White Shadows.
Then, the Pure Trance man took the decks and did what he knows best: amaze the crowd. Solarstone celebrated his birthday in style and threw an amazing party. I've seen Solarstone a couple of times and he always delivered. Played a couple of my favorites, but the ones that reached most of my heart are: Solarstone - Thank you and Solarstone - Love Theme from Blade Runner (Pure Mix).
The whole night was an emotional rollercoaster. And when Giuseppe Ottaviani joined Solarstone on the stage for the Pure NRG set and begun theirs set with "Age of Love" I went straight to Crazy Huma on the Dancefloor mode. I was crying, I was enjoying the goosebumps of this track, I met new people feeling the same as I did. Age of Love if one of my all time favorites, so to start a set with that one, meant only one thing: the set will be PERFECT. And it was.
I made these gifs to capture the madness of the sets. I could not take any photos, since these guys were enjoying their work too much to stay still. Both PureNRG and Lost in Noise sets were definitely my favorites from that night. Closer to my soul in style, closer to my soul in music.
It was a crazy night, an amazing night to end the ADE experience with. I couldn't thought of any other party to chose for this. What are your favorite memories with a Pure Trance act or party?
Remix of the year: Cold Blue for Joint Operation Centre feat. Kate Miles - Behind The Silence [Subculture]
When I first heard the original I fell in love with it and had it on repeat for days. Literally on repeat. There was no other track that could make me feel what this one made me feel: A deep good darkness. Buuuut, when I heard this remix there were some serious goosebumps involved.
Cold Blue released this on August 24, with Subculture. You can grab your copy too, from here: subculture.choons.at/behindthesilence-coldblue .
If the original meant darkness to me, the remix is something else. As usual, Cold Blue managed to spin the track, the melody, the vibe of it into something le-gen-da-ry. Don't get me wrong. They both are legendary. And could easily be named some of the best tracks of this year. But Cold Blue made me love this even more. If that is possible.
This music man's touch is out of this world. I know. I sound like a complete Cold Blue junkie again. But I can't handle it. I really like how he played with it and gave it a special light. The remix sounds a little bit more playful. A little bit dreamier. At least to me. At least to my soul. Just hit play and you' hear exactly what I mean. You'll see the dance party from my heart. The happiness, the joy, the eargasm this track gives.
Enjoyed it on the dancefloor this year at Luminosity. I enjoy every second of it every time I hit the play button. It is one of my favorites for this year. Actually a lot of Subculture tracks are in my favorites this year. Really hope some are in your playlist too. They are doing great in the scene. They do this music justice.

Amsterdam Dance Event announces first confirmed artists
The Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world’s largest festival and business conference for electronic music, today announced the first selection of artists for 2018. Among them are Bonobo, Charlotte de Witte, Colin Benders, GAIA, Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, Martin Garrix, Nina Kraviz, Orbital, Peggy Gou and Richie Hawtin. The organisers expect to welcome a record breaking 400,000 visitors for the 23rd edition.
The five day and night gathering runs from October 17th-21st, 2018 and is the world’s leading festival and conference program, offering an extensive art, film, photography program, alongside music and the latest trends in technology and social good.
“We’re almost at the point of reaching the magical 400,000 visitors mark, and we still see lots of opportunities to grow. ADE aims to be a world stage for musical talent and the music industry. With visitors from more than 100 countries now you can confidently claim that Amsterdam is truly the beating heart of the worldwide music industry during ADE, while being at the same time a breading ground for cultural and technological innovation for five days and nights.”
ADE-director Richard Zijlma
In addition to the growth of the extensive night program, there is also rapid growth of the ADE Beats program, with the audience for hiphop, bass and beats growing year on year. ADE 2017 featured more than 2,500 artists and 550 speakers in a record breaking 160 locations. In previous communications, ADE’s organisers announced that the opening concert with the Metropole Orchestra, the free city festival ADE Hangover and the ADE Hackathon will return to this year’s program.
Among the first selection of artists are:

New track: ALEX M.O.R.P.H. & MARK SHERRY – MAGNETAR [Vandit]
Whenever you see these two names in a track's title, you know it is huge! Alex M.O.R.P.H.'s uplift and Mark Sherry's tech madness combined will always turn into a proper choon! The 2 trance minds are insanely great and it kinda makes you wonder, why this didn't happen earlier. Why Magnetar didn't appear into our lives a couple of years ago.
Wasting zero time, the pair’s first studio union rolls out at pace with drum punch, metal-on-metal percussion and crowd-infecting vocal whoops & loops. Techy FX and bleepy, beamed-from-the-heavens sub-riffs are dispensed from Mr Sherry’s soundbanks. That leaves Alex to hardwire a mainline so galactic in scope & effect, a return from ‘Magnetar‘ may be beyond us all!
Magnetar is exactly what you would expect from a M.O.R.P.H. and Sherry mix. A very nice melody, dreamy, uplifting but also playful combined with a strong and driving upbeat. Good track to listen to at the office and drive your rocker colleagues mad with having it on repeat. Good to start the day with too. It definitely kicks in the energy!
The mindboggling properties of their debut union are available now here beatport.com/release/magnetar-extended/2224170 through Beatport. Or you can feel its cosmic blast via VANDIT’s Soundcloud page!

New From Perfecto: Paul Oakenfold & Amba Shepherd - Love Escape
Into 2018, and Paul Oakenfold maintains the singles pressure built by the likes of last year’s ‘Dreamstate Theme’, ‘Amnesia’, & ‘Deep Space’. Never one to let the artistic grass grow under his feet, ‘Love Escape’ sees him pivot again, with a more contemporary house themed/song-based cut.
To give voice to it, Paul’s once again sought out the talents of a woman who’s now one of Australia’s most established electronic music singer/songwriters. Having previously supplied song to among others Hardwell’s ‘Apollo’ and Oakie’s own 3 million-stream-hitting ‘U Are’, Amba Shepherd gifts ‘Love Escape’ its spirited chorus & insightful verse.
Stylistically spreading the remix love far & wide, Paul’s commissioned three killer reinterpretations to take ‘Escape’ to other clubbing times and dancefloor spaces. Keeping the release’s down-under factor high, Sydney’s JaySounds reins in the bpms, while boosting its bottom end signature. Dropping the LFO into the sub-bass range, he warps out the synths to fashion a spin that’s as eclectic as it is engaging. Further round the Aussie coast, Adelaide’s Dimatik flips the polarity, taking it high up to the trance heavens. Opening the tempo throttle wide, and backed by the big synths, he infectiously cuts, chops & loops the vocal up, servicing ‘Love Escape’s primetime needs.
Casting a moodier, more proggy silhouette through his mix, David Webster brings a more lamenting vibe to Amba’s vocal. Through scudding drums and tight percussion lines, he engages its drive, while amping up its ether through tubular synths, cyber FX and pad-based sweep.
Paul Oakenfold’s famed trip to the white island of Ibiza, sparked the creation of club culture as it is known today as well as his legendary DJ'ing career. The Wonderful World Of Perfecto: With Paul Oakenfold And Friends charts his historic career rise to fame, fortune and musical nirvana and each of the artists collaborating with Oakenfold illustrate a different time period in the DJ’s life. Throughout his career, Paul Oakenfold has been nominated for 3 GRAMMYs, sold millions of records and has been named DJ Mag’s #1 DJ twice. Oakenfold has collaborated with Pharrell Williams, Grandmaster Flash, Ryan Tedder, Perry Farrell, Nelly Furtado, Ice Cube, Tricky, Hunter S. Thompson and the list goes on. He’s officially remixed U2, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, Massive Attack and Maroon 5 among others.
Upcoming Paul Oakenfold shows:
February 09 The Palace Theatre, Calgary AB (Canada
February 23 Soundcheck DC, Washington DC (U.S.A.)
March 9-11 Get Lucky Festival, Magna UT (U.S.A.)
March 23-25 Ultra Music Festival, Miami FL (U.S.A.)

One city. A lot of dreamers: Afterhills 2018
Hello, I am Oana and I am a trance addict. I am a music addict. When I see an event I know I can attend my heart fills with joy and tries to pump out of my chest. I start to experience heavy breathing and a lot of goosebumps. I have huge withdrawals from the previous event I attended and I feel like dying if nothing else is announced. I am getting high on music and I cannot imagine life without it.
I missed Afterhills last year and I still didn't forgive myself for that. Even tough I was partying in the mighty Amsterdam, I still wished to experience the first major festival in my city: Iasi (Romania). So when they announced the official dates: May 31 - June 4 2018, I knew I have to block my calendar for these days. My addiction will be fed and I will be happy.
And after teasing us for weeks with the day they will announce the first phase line-up and tickets, they finally did it. Who registered on their website was lucky enough to be the first to find out and buy his ticket to happiness.
The 1st phase of the line-up looks something like this:
Of course, I don't know all the names. But of course, I will google everyone! I heard of Hurts and their live performances and I have a very excited colleague at the office about them. I listened to some of their tracks today and I was impressed. I like what are they doing and I will put them on my TO SEE list. I do not usually listen to The Crystal Method, but I enjoy their music at the parties. And I am expecting an explosive set. Seen Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano at the Untold Festival #1 and I enjoyed their set. Not too much, because ATB was next, but they did a great job. A lot of Romanian names on the line up too. Great names actually: Firma, Subcarpati, Suie Paparude, Zdob si Zdup, these are few of them I didn't see for quite a while and I am excited to see again.
Aaaaaaand of course, the trance names (for now): Vini Vici, Bogdan Vix and George Andreas. Vini Vici does an amazing job behind the decks and I cannot wait to see them (him) again, but this time in Iasi. Bogdan Vix is a great artist and human being and one of those few people that still keep the Romanian Trance Scene alive. He is working really hard on multiple fronts to make this happen: producer, DJ, promoter and trance addict. George Andreas is an upcoming DJ and I am curious of how a live set from him might sound. I've heard some of his mixes, but I wanna see him live too.
The first 5000 tickets are already on sale for only 187 Ron (~40 euros). You can grab yours from afterhills.com. After December 15, tickets will cost 235 Ron (~ 50 euros). You can find more details on their website. You might want to buy your ticket now and be a loooot happier after they announce even more artists. The ones you were waiting for. (*wink)
Till then, just warm up yourself with my very first set and hopefully not the last one. Trance on!
Trance memories of this summer: TND stage at Timeshift [Day 1/3]
I was editing the photos the other days and all the feels hit me back! The TrancENDance stage at Timeshift was the highlight of this year for the Romanian Trance Community. I wrote about the festival and my expectations here, so I won't be bothering you again with these. I will just tell THE story.
Even though the festival started on Thursday, the first day meant for me and for a lot of people Friday. Friday, because that was the first day with trance music. The first day where we could go and enjoy the sets of Hazem Beltagui, Estiva, Ruben de Ronde, Cosmic Gate, John O Callaghan, Ben Nicky and Bogdan Vix.
And this above picture sums it all for me: amazing music, people and great artists. Of course I chose John O'Callaghan as representative for the first night, because it was the best set of the night (at least for me). It was the set that made me put down the camera, the phone and just enjoy every second of it. Starting with Two Trees and going on with so many amazing tracks, from which I remember: John O'Callaghan ft. Audrey Gallaghar - Big Sky, John O' Callaghan feat. Sarah Howells - Find Yourself, Cold Blue - Once in Time, Maria Healy - Desiderata (Giuseppe Ottaviani remix) made indeed a perfect set. I would love to re-live it, but sadly there is nowhere to be found. Aaaand the highlight of the highlight set was when John played one of my all time favorties: PPK - Ressurection. That made me go all goosebumpy and forget about the world. The only things that mattered were right there. On the dancefloor. The music. The artist. Me. My friends.
Of course I enjoyed the others sets too. Of course I enjoyed seeing again my duo music crush Cosmic Gate and relive all the nice memories I have with them. The crowd went crazy on their set. No matter if it was a newer track or a classic we grew up with. I enjoyed seeing Ben Nicky and the crazy man he is.
I enjoyed Ruben De Ronde's set and I still belive he is the right man for the job when we talk about warm-ups for a great party. I am not too much into the progressive / warm up sound because I am the type of girl that could go straight into crazy mode on the dancefloor at any time and I prefer the more uplifting part of trance. I listen to progressive at the office, I am ok with it at events and I get the need of it, but 3 full sets of that were a bit too much for me for the first day of Timeshift. I am not saying I didn't enjoyed them. Hazem Belatgui had a really good set and crushed my soul into pieces when he played Paul Van Dyk - New York City (do not recall if it was the original, a remix; I am too bad in properly recognizing this). Estiva is an uber energetic man and I liked what he did with and for the crowd. I just got into a point where I was very close to boredomness. I just wanted a change in the rythm. But that's just me. Beside that, I enjoyed seeing the crowd feeling it. I enjoyed seeing the crowd sing along almost every song and have a great time.
It was overall a very good day and I am happy I got the chance to reconnect with some friends. I am glad I got to see again Bogdan Vix, the man that hold the fort for 3 full days for all of us. It was a very emotional reunion for the whole community as well, because of all that happened with Snatt and we knew this event happened because of him and his dreams too. Snatt & Vix was (and still is) a representative duo for Romania and for the Romanian Trance Scene. Huge huge thanks to them for keeping it alive and kicking!
If I would have to mention some of the downsides of this festival, these would be: bad/ pour management/ organization, pricy, but very pricy, and few to zero security. It all began with me going for my press badge and waiting for it for around one full hour. Don't get me wrong. I am not in for the free pass hunt. I am in this for the music. And for all the artists I appreciate and try to support every day. But, if I can take the blog with me I will take it everywhere. It is a part of me. It is the part where I tell all my trance stories. Either it is all unicorns and rainbows, either it's not.
I need at least a paragraph or 2 to let it all out (well, the long story short, at least.) The organization and people behind the festival were a bit overwhelmed by the situations. At the entrance no one would check your bag or at least your entrance pass. No one seemed to care a bit about security. No one seemed to care too much about the consequences about not properly check the people entering at the event.
The TrancENDance stage was the best stage that could happen to this festival. It was the soul of it. It made it the soul for me. Timeshift couldn't be the festival it was without it, no matter what others might say. I know this business can be pretty harsh, and it is not that easy to manage a festival of this magnitude, but the only good thing was the TND stage. The artists, the music, the people and the overall management of things. Kudos to Bogdan, Eko and the other nice people that put their lives, their souls into making this happen! Trance on!
Trance week in review: 4 Romanian acts on ASOT, FSOE and many more!
Busy, but very busy week for the Romanian Trance Family! 1 ASOT, 3 FSOE plays and many other more supports for our trance producers. My first trance week in review is all about local artists and supporting them and their work. I know I didn't mention all of them. Between Exolight, Suncatcher, Nikolauss, The WLT, there is also place for Bogdan Vix, Keyplayer, Starpicker and many more as well. But to somehow start this series, I chose one of the bussiest weeks of this summer (till now). We have some really talented producers and they all deserve your support.
Exolight & Suncatcher - Day to Remember [Fables]
The 2 are on the run lately. Releasing choon after choon, there is no wonder their latest release was played by Aly & File in FSOE 504, voted as FUTURE SOUND and got played a week earlier in ASOT 821. It is clearly they are doing something really right if they are getting so much support both from big artists (Armin van Buuren, Aly & Fila, Dan Stone, Ferry Tale, Solarstone, Alex M.O.R.P.H) and the trance community. Track got released on July 10 and is up for grabs here.
Personal opinion about the track: Great and very serious uplifting, with the right dose of emotion. It is one of those tracks that made me go back to the most melancholic moments of my life, while keeping the present, present. It made me smile thinking of all those beautiful moments. It gave me chills. It gave me goosebumps. Memory goosebumps.

Exolight & Suncatcher - Summer Escape [Always Alive]
Perfect to enjoy this summer. It captures a whole season in one track. Got released on June 30 and it is part of Daniel Kandi's Always Alive Recordings 200.
Nikolauss - Speedforce [Extrema Global]
Can't say this one is my favorite only because he is my boyfriend, but I will say it it my favorite because the track is indeed amazing. I think is one of his best ones till now and I cannot wait to share what else he has to share with you soon. I remember listening to it in its early stages and I know how much I enjoyed since. Speedforce is the right track to get you back on track and to motivate your day. It also has more meaning to me, since I am a huge fan of the Flash and his adventures. This connection inspired the artwork, inspired a lot of articles here and will inspired much more from now on.
Track got released on July 14 and it is one of the 2 tracks Nikolauss had prepared for us for this month. Grab your copy here: extrema.lnk.to/speedforce .

Let's see if we can get on more romanian Future Sound in FSOE. Shall we? Vote your favorite here and let's hope these guys get what they deserve!
The WLT - Wanderlust [Go On Air]
Dana, in real life, has her first big release with Giuseppe Ottaviani's label Go On Air and her first play on ASOT. That is quite an accomplishment and I hope she gets more from now on. Gotta love a woman's touch on a trance track!
Track will be released on July 24. But till you can get your copy, you can vote for here as Future Favorite here: www.astateoftrance.com/futurefavorite.
